Facebook Is Generating Huge E-Commerce Opportunities
"Social commerce will be big and disruptive," Ethan Beard (who runs Facebook's Developer network) said in an interview with Dow Jones Newswires in Sep 2010.
Mr Beard said that over the past year, an explosion of stores on Facebook has propelled social commerce to an inflection point. Over the next 12 months, Beard expects social shopping activity to surge, as merchants look to leverage the site's 500 million users. (Wall Street Journal - 27 Sep 2010)
One thing is clear: Sales are starting to happen in social media - and specifically, with Facebook.
The 500-million-member social-networking site will soon be like a giant, global shopping mall and Web Ninja can help you claim your stake in this E-Commerce space.
Web Ninja Social Shops allow you to promote and sell products without requiring the user to leave Facebook. Customers can buy directly from a "Shop Now" tab within your Facebook page. Your visitors never have to leave the Facebook experience.
By utilizing your fan base and the power of the "Like" button, Merchants can push special offers out to their fans via the news feed and enable those customers to purchase the products that are being promoted without ever leaving their home page.
Forbes recently reported that Facebook Fans are 41% more likely to recommend a brand and 28% more likely to continue using them. They also found that a Facebook Fan is worth on average $136.38 and spends $71.84 more per year than non Fans.
Facebook users who "Like" your products can receive an instant discount from your Facebook store. By doing this, they also notify their friends through automatic links on their personal Facebook News Feeds. For popular products, the effect can quickly become viral, when their friends also join the Social interaction and repost the "Like" links within their News Feed.
In November 2010, the movie "The Social Network" will be released in Australia and New Zealand. If you havent read the story about the formation of Facebook, this is a movie you shouldmust see to fully understand the momentum behind the Social Network known as Facebook.

Some of the early facebook E-Commerce success stories are stunning. For example, in February 2010, Procter & Gamble's Pampers dropped an e-commerce application into a "Shop Now" tab of its 200,000-fan-strong fan page. Within an hour, it sold out of the 1,000 Cruiser diaper packs it was offering at $9.99 USD a pop.
